How to wall mount your TV
The wall-mounted TV is the saviour of floor planners everywhere, helping to free up valuable space for other furniture, providing the perfect angle for your seating arrangements, and giving your room a sleek aesthetic.
The only potential issue is setting one up; fortunately, this is something anyone can do. Let’s take a look at how to make your wall-mounted TV set-up hassle-free and the potential obstacles you may encounter along the way.
What you will need
Here is a quick run-down of the items you will need for setting up a wall-mounted TV:
Tape measure
Screwdriver
Pencil
Drill
Stud detector
Spirit level
Your mounting bracket and TV
Of course, you need to make sure your TV aerial is operational; otherwise, all your efforts will be in vain. For installations or TV aerial repair Tewkesbury, contact a specialist such as Steve Unett Aerials.
Walls
This is the first thing to be aware of, as wall types determine your next step. Brick walls are typically fine, but the mount must be placed into the bricks rather than the mortar. Wall anchors specially designed for brick walls are lifesavers here.
Stud walls are the ones to be aware of, as the plasterboard cannot support the weight of a TV and special attachments will be needed.
Guide
First, make sure the positioning is right; the last thing you want is a wonky TV! Measuring the TV and checking the numbers against the wall can help you gauge the TV’s fit.
Once you are happy, fit the mount to the wall (after assembly!) by first placing the mount bracket against the wall. Test that it is level, then mark the drill holes with a pencil. Before drilling, ensure you are not hitting important pipes or wires. Once you are happy, attach the mount with screws.
Now, you simply need to attach the bracket to your TV. We recommend asking someone to help you lift the TV. Make sure the screws you insert don’t compromise the movement of the mount. Plug in the appropriate cables and you should be all set.
